Overseas Conference Travel Grant
The Department of Physics announces awards to support undergraduate student delegates to present their research work in overseas conferences.
[1] Eligibility
All physics undergraduate students who have conducted physics research projects (such as those in PHYS 2090/3090/4090/4498 or UROP, but not limited to those) and have a paper/abstract/poster accepted by an oversea conference are eligible to apply. The applicant should be the leading author of the accepted paper/abstract/poster and will present the work in the conference.
[2] Application Deadline
The application is open and there is no specific deadline.
[3] Selection Criteria
Selection of proposals will be based on the following criteria:
(a) the stature of the conference
(b) the recommendation of the research supervisor
(c) the significance of the applicants contribution to the work
[4] Supporting Documents
(a) the call for paper or the conference programme
(b) a letter of acceptance for presentation/poster
(c) a copy of the abstract and/or paper to be presented
(d) a filled application form (download the application form)
(e) a recommendation letter from the research supervisor
[5] Procedure
(a) Submit all the required supporting documents to phaward@ust.hk
(b) Results of the selection will be announced later.
(c) Delegates are required to write reports on the event after the conference.
Support
For the maximum support, a round-trip economy class air ticket, conference registration fee, accommodation will be reimbursed. The Scholarships Task Group will also have the discretion to provide partial support.
[7] Obligations
On return, the selected student(s) are required to submit a writing report on the event within 10 days (include weekends) of return and submit the reimbursement document to physics general office within 14 days (include weekends) of return.
